50th Anniversary Toolkit

Advancing Equality in America

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)—that’s 50 years supporting initiatives that empower families, immigrants, new mothers, the elderly, and those in need. Through our work across the U.S., we’ve also empowered individuals to become active participants in their communities by partnering with other local organizations. Our goal is to transform society into one which supports the flourishing of all our brothers and sisters.

The organizations supported by CCHD have been working for decades to address the racial and economic disparities revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, as we look forward to the daunting task of rebuilding a society where all can thrive in the aftermath of a devastating pandemic and the ongoing call to dismantle racial injustice, the work of CCHD is vitally important.

Addressing the Root Causes of Economic Injustice for 50 Years & Counting

Throughout the coming year, we will recognize five successful decades of CCHD beginning with our annual national collection in November 2020, and throughout 2021 with the distribution of educational materials, as well as Poverty Awareness Month in January, and at the 2021 Catholic Social Ministry Gathering. Additionally, special regional activities held throughout  2020 and 2021 will be opportunities for individuals, parishes, and communities to be a part of CCHD’s 50th Anniversary celebration.

These events and activities, both in-person and virtual, will be an opportunity for Catholics and people of goodwill to celebrate the last 50 years of CCHD and get involved in the next 50 years of transformative work.
